The bulk of supplies goes to Bulgaria, Turkey, and Poland
By the results of January-July 2026, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises increased their export of steel semi-finished products by 23.9% compared to the same period in 2025, reaching 874.3 thousand tons. This is evidenced by GMK Center’s calculations based on State Customs Service data.
The primary export destinations over the seven months are Bulgaria – 383.1 thousand tons (+36.7% y.o.y.), Turkey – 111.23 thousand tons (-7.4% y.o.y.), and Poland – 103.4 thousand tons (+5% y.o.y.).
During July, Ukraine reduced its shipments of semi-finished products by 34% compared to the previous month and by 23.6% against July 2025, to 107.7 thousand tons. To Bulgaria, 80.2 thousand tons were exported (2 times y.o.y.; +39.4% m.o.m.), and to Poland – 10.4 thousand tons (2 times y.o.y.; -53.3% m.o.m.).
Export revenue for the seven months grew by 29.8% y.o.y. to $445.1 million, while in July it decreased by 35.5% m.o.m. and by 12.44% y.o.y., to $56.5 million.
As previously reported by GMK Center, for the full year 2025, Ukrainian metallurgists reduced their export of steel semi-finished products by 26.4% compared to the same period in 2024, to 1.39 million tons. Export revenue over the 12 months decreased by 28.9% y.o.y. to $659.62 million.
The main export countries for semi-finished products during the specified period were Bulgaria – 461.34 thousand tons (-22.5% y.o.y.), Turkey – 216.34 thousand tons (+0.3% y.o.y.), Poland – 291.41 thousand tons, and Egypt – 99.26 thousand tons (-72.1% y.o.y.).
In the fourth quarter of last year, the export of semi-finished products increased by 25.4% compared to the same period in 2024 and by 18.5% compared to the previous quarter, reaching 446.67 thousand tons, while revenue from shipments grew by 23.9% y.o.y. and 21.9% q.o.q., to $209.38 million.
